PRO-PAR™ Halogen PAR Lamps
It has been several years since any lamp manufacture has committed
resources to building an optically superior Halogen PAR lamp. That
is until recently, when USHIO introduced the PRO-PAR™ Halogen PAR
lamps series which provides a dramatically improved beam spread,
eliminating hot spots and beam edge feathering.
Optically Superior Beam Control
Since USHIO has been a technology leader in MR-16 Halogen lamps for
over a decade, we took our advanced MR-16 reflector technology and
adapted it to our Halogen PAR line.
Inferior lamps use a dimpled lens to create the beam spread. Our
PRO-PAR™ lamp's beam spread is created by a unique fluted reflector
design that optimizes the use of the capsule's light output to
prevent light loss and diffusion. Each PRO-PAR™ lamp's beam spread
is consistent and does not produce hot spots or beam noise.
Improved Vibration Protection
In addition to superior optical control, PRO-PAR™ lamps have a
unique filament mounting structure that helps protect against
vibration, one of the most common causes of early lamp failure.
Inferior PAR lamps have filament mounts that support the filament at
the ends. When these lamps are burned at a 45 degree angle, such as
in track lighting, gravity pulls the filament down in the center,
and vibration can cause the weak center of the filament to break.
Vibration in track lighting is very common, and is usually caused by
heating or air conditioning ducts vibrating in the ceiling near
track fixtures.
USHIO's mounting structure for the PRO-PAR™ lamps has three
supports. The filament is supported at the ends and in the middle of
the filament. This additional support prevents filament sag and
protects the filament from vibration.
Multi-Layered Reflective Coating Process
In order to ensure the reflective coating does not degrade over the
life of the lamps, our PRO-PAR™ lamp reflectors are made using a
proprietary multi-layer coating process similar to the technology
recording companies use to make compact discs. After the glass is
cleaned and dried, a high temperature multi-layer reflective coating
is applied to the glass. This high grade coating protects the
superior optics to ensure that they remain consistent throughout
lamp life.
